Monkey Fist is a Jeanneau 43 DS built in 2001 in France and launched in Australia in 2002.  She was orginally named Courtesan by the late owners, David and Heather Churcher.

The name "Monkey Fist"

The name comes from the large (and decorative) spherical knot that is tied at the end of the light line thrown from a large ship when berthing to a worker on the wharf to increase the distance the line can be heaved.  The other end of the line is tied to a heavier mooring line which is then hauled into the wharf to fasten the ship properly.

Alternative power

She is equipped with 500w of solar panels and a 400w wind turbine.
